Urma i orasi kolač* Dates and walnut cake

Kad se dani skrate i postane hladnije onda nekako najviše volimo ovakve kolače. Postavljala sam ranije kolač sa kafom i orasima, a ovog puta jedan sa urmom i orasima.

Sastojci

2 šolje urmi bez koštica, nasečene
2 Kašike sode bikarbone
2 šolje crnog čaja, vrućeg
2 šolje smedjeg šećera
2 jaja ulupana
2 Kašike istopljenog putera ( ja sam koristila kokosovo ulje)
2 kašičice vanila ekstrakta
4 šolje samodizajućeg brašna
1 šolja izmrvljenih oraha




Gornja količina je dovoljna za dva kolača, jer sam jedan pravila za nove komšije.

Priprema

Stavimo isečene urme u činiju pa prelijemo vrućim crnim čajem i sipamo  sodu bikarbonu. Ostavimo da stoji oko sat vremena.

Predgrejemo rernu na 160 stepeni C. Namastimo i pobrašnamo tepsije u kojimabi smo pekli veknu hleba.

Umešamo šećer, jaja , puter i vanilu u urme.

Dodamo prosejane brašno i orahe i izmešamo.

Testo rasporedimo u 2 tepsije i pečemo oko sat vremena.

Dates and Walnut Cake





When it gets to winter it is early dark and colder so we prefer more robust cakes. I often make Walnut Coffee cake  but today it is Dates and Walnut cake



2 cupDates, pitted and coarsely chopped
2 tspBaking soda
2 cupBlack tea, boiling hot
2 cupBrown sugar, firmly packed
2Eggs, lightly beaten
2 TbspButter, melted*
2 tspVanilla essence/extract
4 cupsSelf-raising flour

1 cup Walnut pieces
  1. Place coarsely chopped dates in a bowl. Sprinkle with baking soda and cover with boiling hot black tea. Set aside for 1 hour for dates to soften and cool.
  2. Heat oven to 160C. Grease and line a standard loaf tin with baking paper.
  3. Stir brown sugar, egg, butter, and vanilla into the cooled date mixture. Stir in sifted flour and walnuts to just combine. Spoon mixture into prepared loaf tin.
  4. Bake for 1 hour or until loaf tests cooked when a skewer inserted comes out clean
